@rjb0978 No, I’m not crazy. They were very good teams but couldn’t compare with the Lakers/Celtics/Pistons/76er teams of the 80’s. Nor could they compete w the Lakers/Spurs teams of the 2000’s. Jordan’s Bulls wouldn’t have faired well against those teams and Jordan would have no were near 6 titles.
Magic, on the other hand, could lead in many ways, by scoring or deferring to others (Kareem/Worthy). Magic could dominate a game without scoring a single point. Can you imagine Jordan deferring to others or not scoring?
Civil it is. I don’t know how one can be a DIFFERENT kind of winner, as you say. Jord began winning only aft the league had become much weaker than it was in the 80’s. Magic/Bird were gone. And the Bulls began surrounding him with not only better players but players, and a coach (Jackson), who would not dare question Jordan’s me-first mentality. I mean, the Jazz and Blazer teams the Bulls beat were a joke.
damn larry was way ahead of my time… but i gotta say i always looked at him as a sharpshooter but he was a damn good passer… it makes me wish i was around that time cuz i probly would have been a big celtics fan
You make good points (I should say that hopefully we can keep this civil unlike 99% of youtube debates)…the idea that Magic made the players around him better than Jordan would have made them is probably true. But I disagree that makes Magic a better winner. It makes him a DIFFERENT kind of winner (maybe also a more popular kind) but not better. Jordan’s career showed that, regardless of his methods, or the involvement of teammates, he is the pick (imo the best pick) to build a winning team
David,
I’m not sure Magic actually said that Jordan was better. But, whatever the case, I can’t imagine any GM taking Jordan over Magic to build a winning team. Jordan was purely a scorer and was never the leader Magic was. When Jordan was on the court, the danger was that he would personally beat you. Magic was a scorer AND a playmaker. It’s a cliche by now, but Magic made the players around him better, Jordan much less so.
idiyaman7, sorry to tell you man. White people aren’t “scared” to play basketball any more than black people are. You are right, obviously black people are in most cases high jumpers and are more athletic, but that’s what I’m thinking when I go out on the court. I’m still athletic and can shoot the ball well and I like making flashy passes. Black people don’t “intimidate” me or anybody else. We just sometimes play a different kind of game. By the way, the meatloaf comment was pointlessly untrue.
maybe your not from this country but sadly in america many white players are scared of the urban athlete. They want no part of the tattoos, trash talking and athleticism. They just want a friendly game and 2 be able to make it home in time for moms meatloaf. What made Bird great was that he did not fear anyone, heck he is one of the biggest trash talkers of all time. If more suburban kids took this mind set the nba would have more white american born franchise players.
It can be debated whether or not Bird was the best player of all time. However, while both Kobe and LaBron have more than a “little” Michael in their games, there has never been and likely never will be anyone who played quite LIKE Larry did.
also larry is showing you white guys you can play and be dominate in the modern era. its not all about athleticism. Hard work, basketball iq and skill can get you to greatness. dont fear someone just cuz they can jump high. I think a lot potential white kids get discouraged to play ball today because they think they can compete because of the athleticism today
bird was great but when the celts needed a bucket they went to mchale best low post moves ever. I think people think it was 70 to 30% as far as the twos contributions but really it was more like larrys 55% to 45% mchale

Lorenzo Pajaro was the best Latino to ever play basketball. The best non latinos are Magic and Michael.
Are you crazy? That Blazer team was no joke and neither were the Jazz or Suns.

CyrusTab,
Even Magic himself has said Jordan is the greatest…but you’re entitled to your opinion (obviously).

Magic > Jordan
